I am having difficulty getting a continuous wireless connection through my router - probably as a result of too many devices sending too much data?
Here's my setup:
DSL Modem - Westell - with a fixed IP address and a low end DSL download/uploload speed.
Dlink DIR 655 wireless/router 802.11bgn)
PC to router by ethernet
PC to router by wireless 802.11g
6 (yes, six) Dlink IP cameras:
2 DCS 5300W (802.11b)
1 DCS 5300G (802.11g)
3 DCS 6220G (802.11g)
2 Dlink DAP 1555 Mediabridge (802.11n) - altho I'm not sure I am actually connecting these on 802.11n protocol because I am still using WEP encryption which is all my older devices can use) - bridging
HD satellite receivers (2) and a sony
PS3.
My PC's and the mediabridge devices still appear to connect wirelessly just fine with acceptable speed and no dropouts.
The cameras have gone crazy (after adding the DAP 1555's and the last IP camera. Truth to tell, the video wasn't all that smooth BEFORE, but is much worse now.
Since installing the mediabridge devices, I get interrupted or no video, dropouts, broken up or no audio - and am not able to access the cameras from remote locations at all.
Where did I go wrong? I have made a large money offering to the gods of WiFi, but they seem to frown on me.
DSL speed isn't able to be improved (I'm in a rural area and can't get any additional bandwidth or speed at this time).
I am sure I'm getting mucho collisions especially with the cameras which are the limiting factor.
Can I get by installing a second in-house network on the same DSL modem? I do have a second DIR 655 which I could piggyback and use as a second wireless AP/SSID if possible.
Can I install a second wireless network on a second DSL modem/account?
Is there another solution staring at me that I'm just not seeing?
Can you help me before I spend again?
Thanks - sorry for the long 1st message!
