troble connecting to DSL

I am on vacation and the unit has DSL and I have cable at home. I can connect to other cable wireless connection at this location, but not the DSL. I can not get a ping on the IP. It sends but will not answer back. I have a very strong signal, but just won't connect. Does DSL require a different setup?
