trouble with wirelless connections

hi! well this is how it is. i recently bought a wireless router and a pci adapter. the internet works fine and the transfer rates are even higher than before but when i download a torrent file i get the yellow light (it indicates that my system is behind a firewall or a proxy server) so i am not connectable in any way. a simmilar thing happens when i try to connect to DC++. I am on the hubs but i have the passive mode automatically turned on and when i try the active mode my searches don't bring up anything and even in passive mode i get only a few hits. is there any way i can fix this problem?
