Default Trying to set up a network

Hey my PC is plugged into a Wireless O2 router via ethernet cable, the router is connected to the internet via DSL. I try to set up a network from my computer, if I try using a USB to transfer the details it says insert it into the router before any devices (I want to connect my laptop). However there is no USB slot in my router so I can't do this. The other option is manually put the details into all devices, and I've tried this, put the SSID and WEP key into my laptop several times and it connects, but says it is a limited connection and I cannot use it to search the internet. The laptop gives me several options on how to repair it, If I plug it into the router via ethernet it works fine but if I scan or try to diagnose it, it says it gets no response from the router.
I even tried manually entering the SSID and WEP key from my laptop and then it gives me the list of routers, I choose mine and it doesn't give me a response. How can I make the router respond so I can access the network?

My laptop is a TOSHIBA Satellite Pro L300 - 22E and my router is an O2 Wireless Box II
