Unexplained sudden signal drop over < 10m
On this computer which is less than 10m from the AP 70% is the usual signal strength.
Then suddenly for no apparent reason it will wildly swing to < 10% and even drop out entirely.
I simply can't understand this. There are no other AP running on this channel in the area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Issue confirmed over 4 pieces of hardware including using wireless monitoring tools.
Partial solution has been to shift to another channel at the other end of the spectrum.
Suspect non 802.X 2.4GHz traffic is operating in that band
Have you tried the Netstumbler program which will detect other wireless network signals in your immediate vicinity? Perhaps a neighbour is using the same 2.4GHZ channel for their network. Do you have cordless phones in your house because they could be the source of interference.
