Default Using a modem wifi as a receiver??

Hi thanks in advance for any help.
I'm am pretty much dead broke at the moment due to jobs changes not lining up but anyway heres my question.
I was recently given a PC and just had to put my old HDD. however it doesnt have wifi and the current wifi modem (netgear N300) is downstairs and there is no way to run an ethernet cable. Is it possible to use my old netcomm NB6W to connect to my PC via ethernet or USB to receive and connect to my wifi network?? I tried some repeater options on my modems but they Netgear had to be factory reset cos is froze.

Thanks for any help!
