Arrow Using a Wireless Router as a Wireless Adapter

Hey,
Right now my old D-link DWL-G510 wireless pci adapter has failed. I already have a wireless network in place in the house and the router is very far away from my desktop. So I have an extra Lynksis WRT54GS Router and a working ethernet port on my desktop. I was wondering if i could use the wireless router as a wireless adapter and send that in as an ethernet internet connection.

Thanks

Use DD-WRT firmware. Set it up as a Client Bridge.

Arrow Elaborate?

Sounds great but could you elaborate on what that is or how to do it. It was a miracle that i got my wireless network to work before.

1) go to the dd-wrt downloads page for linksys

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/dd-wrt/downloads.html

2) select your model of router from the list on the left

3) download the mini version for your router

4) install the mini version just like you would install a Linksys firmware upgrade.

5) If you want more, download and install a more involved DD-WRT firmware. the mini version will do what you want.

6) follow these intructions:

Thats me. I have just been asked to do a WTR for a friend of the family and I was hoping I wouldn't have to if it was a straightforward upgrade...sigh.
Since the OP didn't mention which version of the WRT54GS he has let us hope he doesn't have a v5 to v7 version.
