Wifi Disconnects after a Few minutes - Please Assist

Hey,


I have state of the art pc with e6600 , good graphics card 2 gig memory etc.

How ever i have a wifi network and am using Linksys Wrt54g Router and Hamlet wifi mini adapter.


Before i went out and bought hamlet i bought a linksys speed booster adapter but after i installed its drivers everything stopped working *even after installing and uninstalling] went nuts so i gave it back and got this hamlet.

I play games such as bf2142 and guild wars diablo 2 and hoping to buy tiberium wars. Wifi is important aspect of my pc.

Anyway my wifi network connects to internet after i plug in the adapter then after a few minutes it disconnects either in game or firefox and its really annoying because i cannot do anything.

sometimes repairing works or sometimes i have to re start and put the adapter back in.It happens all the time usually lasting 5 mins max and i dont know what is going wrong.

I am a mid- level expert. My hamlet does get a little hot after a while.

If you require to know anything else please let me know/

Its not a problem with my router because i have a laptop and it works excellently with it but i cannot play games on it or maybe it is.

How strong is the signal after you connect?
Are you running windows sp2?

Things to try.

Turn your security off for a bit and see how long you stay connected
Disable UPNP on the router
