Default Wireless dops internet only

hi everyone, i have a puzzling problem that i or my friend can seem to figure out. every 6 or 8 hours, i lose connection to the internet but only most of the time, just the internet. i operate and control the computer in question using VNC. i can remain connected through VNC but we lose the internet, yahoo and msn connection. the router was set on channel 11 and the pci card was set at 6 so we made them both 6 and all security settings are in tact. can someone explain or suggest why we are losing connection periodically like this? it almost acts like it is timing out. the only way to reconnect to the internet is to restart the computer. thank you for any help.

windows xp professional sp2

you may also IM me at efran1526@rogers.com through yahoo if u wish or email me directly.

thanks again.

I have had problems similar to this caused by a bung wireless router, updating the firmware fixed it.

Out of curiosity what type of PCI card are you using?

AFAIK this card uses an Atheros chipset, try using reference drivers for it available from http://www.funchords.com/Atheros_4.1.2.71.zip
