Default wireless linksys "acquire" dell d600

I have a linksys wireless router wrt54g broadband and I can connect to it with no problems with my Dell latitude 620 and my new Fujitsu lifebook but I have a dell latitude d600 that will not connect

The router is setup to have up to 50 connections so that is not the problem.
When I connect the d600 directly with cable also no internet connection.

On both occasions wireless and wired it will give me that it "acquiring network address"

I assume the router is working well since 2 laptops will connect without problems.

Operating system on both Dells are windows xp professional and the fujitsu vista

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The wireless card in the dell d600 is a Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PC

is the dell latitude d600 set up for DHCP or static configuration?

what do you see when you run ipconfig on the dell latitude d600?

Default ip

The strange thing is that today earlier I rebooted the d600 and it found a ip address and it said it was connected. I opened internet explorer but nothing.
That is weird, could it be that the wireless card works intermittently??
