Default WIRELESS NIGHTMARE plz help!

I have a NETGEAR router, and a belkin wireless USB 2.0 Key. The thing here is that my wireless connection drops ALL the time. it will not stay stable, wether it is a static IP address, WEP enctypted, etc. I can browse for a while most of the time on the internet. but if I want to game, download or use bittorrent or anything of that nature P2P etc. it will shut er down. then I have to repair connection to get it back up. here are my specifications...

NETGEAR WGR614v6 ROUTER
BELKIN F5D7050 WLAN USB 2.0 KEY
Windows XP SP2 PRO
COMCAST Cable

this is the kicker. I have bought 3 NEW ROUTERS within the past month. ALL of them did the same thing. so i know that's not where the problem is. The Ethernet Ports work absolutely PERFECT. if that helps anyone. Please do not tell me to change the wireless channel. I need a GURU to help me out here. thank you all for your time and support. hopefully I can get this issue resolved as MANY people have this same problem.

Just a few questions to help rule out some typical problems:

Are you using the latest version of the drivers and the firmware for the router?
Are there many wireless networks around where you're trying to use it?
Do you have a portable/cordless phone?
What sort of signal strength are you getting?

On top of what Noodles just mentioned I'd be looking very hard at the Belkin USB adapter by now. There is another recent thread in this forum with a very similar problem.

Try a driver update from Belkin's website or Windows Update and also get rid of the connection manager the Belkin driver installs. Windows XP usually does a far better job of managing wireless connections by itself.

thank you for your help.

yes, i have a wireless phone.

no other networks around.

and yes, I have all the updated software for each of my pieces of hardware.
can anyone out there advise me on ANYTHING?

is there some kind of app that can tell me exactly why and what is causing the router to switch off the wireless connection only?

I would try turning off your cordless phone and see if that makes a difference.

But also try a different wireless adapter, as NZLamb mentioned this may be the problem.
