Wireless problem

so i recently installed ie7 with some other updates that i had not installed from when i formatted not to long ago; and all of a sudden my wireless connection stopped working... yes it was working fine before the update; no problems at all.

both my laptop and other desktops in my house cannot find my connection.
my wireless picks up a few other connections around my neighborhood but can't seem to find mine.

i've tried system restore back to before i installed my updates but no help...
i've tried everything i could think of... even callled microsoft but those *******s lied on the site.... the hotline is NOT 24hrs...
If anybody could help it'll be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

using an old smc7004awbr wireless router if that helps any...
