Unhappy Wireless Range Extender as Universal Repeater not working

Hi all,

I hope someone out there will be able to help me out with a problem I have!

I have a wireless modem in my living room, the Huawei HG655d, and I have a Sitecom 330N Wireless Range Extender in my back room.

I followed the guide on the Sitecom site, and set up the Wireless Extender whilst it was plugged directly into the modem.

I changed the IP so that it was on the same network, my router is 192.168.1.1 and the Sitecom is now 192.168.1.254 (it was 0.254 out of the box). I was then able to reach both my router and wireless extender by typing in the IP addresses in a browser, and I was also able to connect to both networks, and all was fine.

However, when I unplugged the cable, and took it into the back room then it hasn't worked out!

I can still see the network. The signal in the back room is perfect, however when I try to connect to it then I just keep getting the exclamation mark to say that there are problems, with "No Internet Access", despite that it says "Connected". If I view the network information in the control panel, I see that it says "Unidentified Public Network" and then an X before "Internet". The wireless access point does have WPA set up, and so I don't know why it is neither connecting, nor flagging that it is passworded.

I also can no longer reach 192.168.1.254

Please help!! Many thanks!

Default

Just an update, the Huawei has DHCP enabled:

Start IP: 192.168.1.65
End IP: 192.168.1.254

LAN IP address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

The Sitecom has DHCP disabled:

IP Address: 192.168.1.234
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254

I have tried changing the default gateway on the Sitecom to 192.168.1.1 to match the Huawei modem, but this didn't seem to make a difference.

I also have noticed that if I connect to the main Huawei internet then I can't reach 192.168.1.234 (the sitecom address), but I can still configure the modem, however if I connect to the Sitecom internet (when it is plugged in via the cable into the Huawei modem), then I can reach both .234 and .1
