WMP54G doesn't see as many networks as my laptop does

Hello,

I recently purchased a Linksys WMP54G Wireless G PCI Adapter for my desktop computer. I usually see about 15 wireless networks when I use my HP Pavilion DV2 laptop, but after installing the wireless desktop card and installing it, I was only able to see one available network. The network I'm trying to connect to should be there... in fact, I'm using it right now for internet access so I can ask this question.

Did I purchase the wrong type of wireless desktop card? Anything I can do to connect to the network? I'm literally looking at all of the properties for the network I want to connect to via selecting properties from the wireless network list on my laptop.

get an extension cable and move the antenna away from the computer case. up in the air, away from metal.

sorry to be brisk with my reply, but is there something like this available from best buy that would solve the problem? I only have a short period of time to get the network up and running.

I have not seen any pigtails in any commercial outlets yet. mail order or roll your own.

for a fast field expedient fix, pull the computer out of whatever it's in and stand it on its face, antenna straight up. does the job but looks weird
