Default Nokia 1110i

The Nokia 1110i is a bare bones GSM cell phone released by Nokia in early 2006. The phone appealed to new cell phone users because of its simplicity, small size, limited feature set, and low price. It is also very similar to the 1110.

Features

  • Speaking alarm and clock
  • Icon-based phonebook with simplified menu navigation
  • 20-chord polyphonic ringing tones with MP3-grade sound
  • New inverted black and white display with amber backlight
  • Graphical demo mode for phone features both with and without SIM card
  • Analog clock display
  • Call management (timers, counters)
  • Internal antenna
  • Exchangeable Xpress-on™ colour covers
  • Picture messaging to send a picture greeting
  • Three built-in games
  • Four-way scroll key
  • Easy deletion of multiple messages
  • Undo item in SMS editor
  • 5 hrs battery talktime

I bought this phone for my 75 year old Nanna as she wanted a simple mobile phone that just made and received calls. Obviously in this day and age that is very hard to find, so I have to say hats off to Nokia for keeping their simple, low cost handsets on the market. The handset comes in three colours, black, white and blue and has xpress on covers to change its appearance. It is a simple candy bar shape and is very comfortable to hold and use.

It is a dual band, which is low compared to the latest tri and quad banders, but is enough for many very basic users. The phones menus are easy to navigate and quick to use. It has an LCD screen which does scratch easily if not cared for. It has an icon based phonebook which is very simple to use and stores all contact information nicely.

Cheers,

Many of technophobes tend to keep phones away from the complex of fear may be too difficult to learn and use. And it's a fair point. Some phones will take some 'time to achieve, especially if you're there to model very old or very basic, or even without a phone at all. Why is a person so I decided to check out the Nokia 1110i.
