We am looking for a 5.x Ghz sniffer.

you am best get a 802.11.a pcmcia/pc-card and you am should put it into a laptop. Then you am can use netstumbler

I am recommend Proxim Skyline or Proxim Harmony:

Perhaps he is looking for something to sniff the non-802.11 networks.. such as the proxim tsunami and trango broadband 5.8ghz equipment.. I'm not aware of any such tools, but a spectrum analyzer and suitable antenna will give you an idea on any interference you're picking up...

If you're looking to search for a specific kind of network equipment your best bet is probably to use the "apsearch" command on one of the same brand devices as you're looking for... of course, thats kind of hard if you don't know exactly what it IS you're looking for...

So what ARE you looking for?
