Default Am I connected?

Hi all
I'm new at this wireless thing..... I tried my laptop (Asus) outside the local maori uni, it found a new wireless network and said it was connected. It didn't ask for a password or anything, but I couldn't get my laptop to talk to their network. I want to try their high speed internet.
Am I missing a step or two?

Thanks Dave

ask their IT guys.

if you're staff/student, or if they are intentionally providing free wireless, then they shouldnt have a problem helping you out

if however they arent intentionally providing free wireless, the point of this forum is not to help either directly or indirectly to steal bandwidth or circumvent wireless security, and we therefore wont be able to help you.

Because the members of this community run community oriented wireless access points, in other words - we intentionally want to be connected to and we're advising others of our availability and location. All legal tegal.

Telling others how to get onto a network not intended for the public is, however, wrong.

Next question?
