Default Linux Wifi Config

I need some help getting my wifi up. I’m using wep 128-bit encryption with a shared key. I also have the SSID broadcast turned off.

On my laptop I have a dual boot with WinXP and Mandrake 9.2. When I boot to windows I’m good however I can’t get the config right in Linux.

So I went to my router and turned off wep and turn the SSID broadcast back on and I was able to connect fine in Linux. So I guess I need some help so I can run Linux with my security up.

Note: my wifi is 802.11b with internal Orinoco mini pci card. Thanks for any help.
