Node in Botony

Have a linksys 54G Airpoint router, looking for a new cheap pc to setup a firewall etc what other equipment do I need to setup a node there. Prefer second hand gear if I can as the CFO (Wife) not likely to let me spend $100's on this

I am in a flat area on the east side of Manuakau heights if that helps, in pcm country and no Walker Wireless zone

Im trying to head that way. Im allmost getting LOS to that area but depends on where you are. I can see some of it.

Would be keen on trying a PtP out some time.

I have a couple of machines kicking around that should work OK for firewall etc.

Outside aerials etc, what aerial and what distance and speed can be attained?

Haven't tested the AP that much with my pda but doubt it would work even outside
