hi, thanks for taking interest in our project
we hope to keep the cost of nodes down as much as possible, i'm unsure of the costs at the moment, but it should be around about $500 for a full node, or $300 for a client (directional aerial connecting to a node)
As for hackers, your LAN won't be accessable to the wireless LAN if you set up a gateway between the 2 networks. We also hope to have some security systems in place to stop people from war driving or gaining illegal access and causing havoc. At the moment we're still evaluating the best options for both hardware and network security, but we'll keep you informed.

Count me in Hi all.
Im wookie!
Have just got myself an AP. I live in the Hobsoinville area. If any one has line of sight to the Airforce base at Hobsonville then we can probably connect. I have all the gear coming. I am collecting peoples street addresses to match people up. I plan to also log GPS cords and scan a map with them all on for my website.
So share your location and we will have a network up and running in no time!!

Welcome sycotic! If you have ICQ drop your details in this forum. Also check
www.nodedb.com to place your node on the map so all of Auckland can see where they nearest connect is. Also if you are into War Driving check out homepages.ihug.co.nz/~swookiew.

i tried to add my node @ nodedb a while ago, but it won't add me :/
i put in all the details and it takes me to viewnode.php with no id, so it says No node id input or whatever, and it doesn't add me

If you let me know what streeet you are in and an aprrox. location along it.. ie half way...at interestion etc. I can map your position on the map at homepages.ihug.co.nz/~swookiew and find someone who can connect to you.
Make sure you join the mailing list and add our ICQ numbers if you use it.
