Sharing wireless with my neighbor

My neighbor and I share his high speed. Basically he has a wired network. He has a linksys wireless access point they use for their laptop plugged in to their router and that's also how I get my signal. Right now I have a cantenna hooked to my wirless card in my computer and it works great. I have a wrt54g wireless router and would like to hook my cantenna to that instead and have my router communicate with his access point so I dont need to leave my main computer on all the time. Right now I have set up connection sharing on my main computer and hooked my wrt54g to it so it needs to stay on all the time. Hope that makes sense. Is it possible to do this. I have tried everything I can think of and cant seem to get it to work. Thanks in advance. Porky

I have several wrt54's all talking to each other so yes it is possible.

What you need to check is the your wrt54 is in clientmode and talkinf the the other AP. Then plug your main cimputer into one of the ports. Ensure that the wrt has dhcp enabled or yo are using a static adress on your main machine and wrt that is in the same subnet, ie all on 192.168.1.x.

Your gateway should point to your mates AP and other than that it should just work!!
Can you ping his AP from your main computer? Can you ping the outside world?
