Still confused

Hey, I've been doing some reading up on WiFi as the general concept of it seems to have me quite excited. At some point I hope to either have a WiFi AP in the house, or possibly when I end up getting a vehicle (thanks to good public transport around Wellington, I have no need for one yet).

What does this have to do with the NZWireless project? I assume those setting up nodes for the NZWireless project will be using more commercial gear with a large coverage area, and from what I understand the home user within that coverage area will connect using their own home router?

Please fill me in - I'm a little hazy between the home WiFi setup and how this becomes part of NZWireless.
