Tower Location

Well people, There is a Tower located not far from where I live (on the Shore in Torbay) and for AGES I thought that it was owned by Telecom, but It turns out that it might not be.
(The tower is located at 364 Glenvar Rd, Torbay.)
The link below is to some minutes of a North Shore City Council Meeting, where Telecom requested space on the tower.

So today I sent off a letter to the council asking if I could stick a repeater up there to use in the Nzwireless.org community network.

I was told that I should get a reply on monday to say If I can use the tower or not.

But for the moment, here are some pic of the tower and the View....

(Keep in mind that the repeater is going to be another 15/20m above where these photos were taken from)

So Fingers crossed that NzWireless can use the tower... (For free or a small charge)

Ill keep ya updated as to what happens.

Well, here is the reply from the Council.

I have looked into this and the Tower and the land on which it sits is owned by Telecom. They would still have needed a resource consent to place further antennas on the tower, but that would be Council's only involvement with this tower.

So I guess the next step would be to Contact Telecom, and there community support department.

Great thinking
The downside is that Telecom consider what we are doing is "compition" to them so are not very helpful (at least the people i have talk to there do anyway) as I have been trying to get an aerial onto of one of the buildings in taka central.
The telecom building (the one out by itself) is leased till october by telecom but the building manager told me to contact her after that and they should be able to do something (just not sure if they want bucks yet).
Myself and Seton have been up the top of the spencer on byron tower and are just waiting for a responce from them as to wether or not we can use there roof (a complete 360deg view) which should give us a really good center for the shore but we are just waiting to here back soi will keep ya posted.
The AXA building is no use as Walker wireless is already there and they do charge to put stuff up there.
