Default WarRiding Auckland CBD

Hey all,
I am planning to go war riding through the Auckland CBD on my motorbike next weekend.
Wondering if anyone has the means to take a net stumbler log file (with gps data) and map it?
I have the garmin software which will show where I went against a map, however this won't show the access point signals.
Anyone willing to help out a fellow nzwireless member and take the completed Net Stumbler log file and convert it for me?

-John

John,
You need Wigle http://www.wigle.net/ and the windows client
Digle.
This software takes the netstumbler file (with GPS info) and maps it.

You will need some Auckland map packs for the client to use. I have some good ones of Auckland CBD and greater Auckland but are rather large (10 Meg+)

Happy to make available on my ftp server for you to download.

Let me know..........

Bigted,
Thanks for your offer...
I would like to get hold of this data.
Could you either email (I have a 100MB per message limit, 500MB mailbox) it all to anything at john.geek.nz.
If you want to be sure it will go through, set your smtp server to smtp.john.geek.nz before sending it. (no, it doesn't open relay!)

Otherwise, email me ftp details and I will get it off you.
If you want, I can keep the files on my telehoused box for http download for other users.

Thanks

-John

Any chance of fixing my stuff-up and moving this to the wireless network forum instead of Hardware?

I will look into this - i don't think the 900ap+ does DHCP very well.
I am getting bits and pieces together at the moment to get a link the 10km back to my house. Once this happens, there will be some decent 'material' available for speed testing.

shadowx is putting some wifi antennas up, im giving him internet over cat5, you might be able to get signal without paying for aerial space on the tower being that close..

Well, I went round to Shadows and got an N connector put on my mag mount antenna. My usb-serial adaptor arrived so Now I am ready to go war driving/riding. Just gotta put a cigarette lighter socket on the bike and disconnect the headlight and I will be in business!

On a side note, that Digle software is an absolut piece of crap. I know, I know, don't mock it unless you are willing to try it yourself - So I might just do that

Well,
the results are in for the first phase. I never realised how small the area of the Auckland cbd that I drove around was until I looked at my gps log this morning - I'll need to go again and fill in the holes.
Here is where i went:

And here is a list of the Access points I found.

Note that in this image are 318 Access points - 40 odd never got a gps lock due to trees/buildings/etc but the others are definitely listed, just the gps only outputs one position every second and at times network stumbler may have picked up 3 or 4 AP's at once and it only shows the point of strongest signal.
