Wireless networks and cordless phones

I want to setup a wireless network that will not be affected by interference by cordless phones utilising the 2.4Ghz spectrum. I understand there are standard protocols 802.11a and 802.11g that may provide solutions but am not sure if those are the best solutions. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks. :?

I am running a netgear 802.11G router beside my 2.4Ghz wifi telephone and have not noticed any degradation or problems running my wifi LAN.
