What can people find out from an IP adress?

How much information can people find out from an IP adress? and what exactly can they find out?
Is one supposed to keep their IP hidden then ?
There must be some software to prevent your IP to be seen by others while you are online.

Anytime u visit a website Ur ip is seen. Your ip by no means is private they can find out within 1000 miles give or take where u live what company u use for internet and what ports u have open believe it or not even this site logs ur ip with every post, its not something that u need to hide

i would suggest you to google "IP hide software" and i m sure there are so many softwares out there to help you. As far as IP concerns, people can even hack your computer if they know your IP.

another solution is to use a dynamic IP address which changes frequently.
