Hey everyone. This is my first post regarding wi-fi, and I'd like to bring up a concern. I know first of all that Macs, iPads and iPhones...basically any Apple made computer is VERY secure and build very solid. However, I just watched a news report about the dangers of public wi-fi hotspots (which I use ALL the time). The news investigator found two hackers (nice guys that wouldn't do anything terrible) that showed her exactly just how easy it was for them to rip someone of their identity. And yes, they were even able to hack into an iPhone. Basically all they had to do was setup their own bogus wi-fi connection, wait for people to log on and then they were able to watch that person's every move! Even with the iPhone. So with this in mind, what's our risk...how can we be sure we're on a safe wireless connection and what can we do to protect ourselves? I can see how easy it'd be to rob a PC blind of all data since they are wide open...but the fact that they've figured a way into Apple devices scares me. Let me know what you think.
Never had any Apple products so I am not sure how it goes with Apple security. I think even if you connect to a free wifi connection you still have some security of sorts in your phone or gadgets. On netbooks and laptops its easier to beef up your security, for mobile phones, its harder I guess.
