Default Wifi Security from ISP

I would like to hear recommendations for security software. First I'll give some background. I am in a small town with only one high speed option. A neighbor has set up a wifi hotspot. He is providing a pay service and seems to be fairly tech savvy. Computers are more of a hobby and he does not have any formal training or background just kind of learned on his own. My question is since he is my ISP how can I secure my transmissions so that he could not "peek" at where I've been or track my history. I have a wireless expander connected and our computers connect to the expander. Someone suggested "onion routing" software? I am a newbie and don't want something difficult to set up or will slow me down. Even pay services are welcome I just would like to hide my tracks from my ISP. Any suggestions? Please note he provides the service so I assume security is little trickier than a snoopy neighbor piggy backing my network. Any suggestions would be great!!

I am running Symantec security suite, Windows XP (Sp2) and a D-Link expander. My browser is IE6 but willing to use others if needed.

try using an online proxy site this way you connect to a website through a website anonymously. Search Google for Anonymous proxy sites.

Hi,

You don't have too many options as he is the administrator on the connection.
He obviously can peek. You may try WiFiRy.

Regards

Purchase VPN server then your data transfers with encryption. That would be fine.
