Wireless security with VPN

Hi,

I am accessing by VPN the network office. But I am using my wireless network at home without WEP.

The VPN is it a tunnel between servers at work and my access point or is it a tunnel between server at work and my laptop?

Because if it is a tunnel between servers at work and my access point it will let my connection between my laptop and my access point not encrypted. Is it right?

If you connect to the VPN on your laptop, then traffic to your office will be encrypted over the wireless but nothing else will be. Even considering this it is still bad practice as your laptop itself is unprotected and is now connected directly to your workplace network. If your laptop itself is compromised through the wireless connection it could still serve as a way in to your work network.

When You connect system to the VPN,The traffic would be encrypted through wireless.Even taking account of this practice is even worse than your laptop itself is not protected and is now connected directly to your office network.
