i have a leviton router in a structured media panel, and a seperate level one access point, computers running a mix of win 7 and vista, and a network hard drive
when i plug my access point into my network. my wired computers recieve ip addresses from the access point. not the router. i know this because the router and access point have seperate addresses assigned. between 50 and 99 for the router and between 100 and 149 for the access point. then no internet. however, i can see the other computers on the network.
my router has a troubleshooting function that can do a dns lookup. if i take that ip address and enter it on the address bar of internet explorer it will navigate to the website.
is there an order the gateway addresses need to be on the access point and the router? or does anyone have another solution?
i am really frustrated. i've spent hours on the phone with leviton support. no help. i wanted to go get new hardware, but am afraid i will have the same problem.
