Default All of a sudden my signal goes blah

Grrrrr, this just eats up my nerves. I've had everything working good for about a month and now blah. I have a desktop PC downstairs. I ordered sbc dsl about 2 months ago with their wireless router because I didnt want to run wires all the way from downstairs to upstairs. For my PC upstairs I have a Hawking "Hi-Gain" (yea right)HWU54DM USB adapter.

Well this setup worked good for the past two months. The signal strength was always at 100% and once in a while it would go down to 96% but it would never slow down my internet. Well about 3 days ago all of a sudden out of no where in a split second my internet just stopped responding and I noticed my connection started dropping. No one in the house did anything new, bought any new phones or electronics at all. No one moved anything or install anything. No changes in the house at all that would suggest some kind of interference. Now this stupid signal keeps bouncing between 81% down to 76%, down to 13% and then back to 81% it is not stable at all. Internet is slower then dial up and keeps disconnecting every 10-20 minutes. I restarted the main PC downstairs as well as the wireless router and still the same BS. I tried to move the hawking adapter around upstairs and cannot find a better location for it. The only thing I can think of is maybe one of our neighbors installed something new that is interfering with my wireless signal. Or maybe because its started getting very hot out here in Los Angeles? I know our phone lines get very bad when it gets hot out here so maybe the phone line has something to do with this? Any way, any one got any ideas or suggestions? I greatly appreciate all and any help provided.

Thanks all.

Question...if I get a 100ft cat5 cable, will I have any problems with such a long cable? will I need a repeater?

Thanks.

Default No problem with 100ft

Cat5 cable can go as long as 100 meters (300 odd feet) with no repeaters.
