Belkin router - laptop recognises but cannot connect

I have been tearing my hair out trying to get this one sorted

! I have bought a Belkin G+MIMD router to be able to access wirelessly from my desktop. The laptop is showing an 'excellent' connection to the router in the system tray and seems to be working fine but I CANNOT connect to the internet. Can anybody help please?
