Angry Belkin USB Adapter can't seem to aquire network address from linksys E1000 router

Hi,

So technology has been driving me insane the last four days. I got a Belkin Surf and Share Wireless USB Adapter-F7D2101 v1 and I have a linksys E1000 router. I installed the program in my desktop computer (which is a Windows XP-Service Pk 3) and the installation was successful. I put my usb adapter in the computer and pulled up the available networks and found my network. It's signal was excellent, and I typed in the WPA code for the network and clicked connect. The trouble comes here... I clicked connect and it says that it is aquiring the network address. It does this for about maybe ten to twenty seconds and then it basically "boots" me out and tries to aquire the network address again. Finally it gives up and says it can't connect to the network that I want it to.

So I've tried many ways to try to figure out the problem. I tried repairing the connection, but when it got to renewing the IP address, the computer had seemed to freeze... I could still do things on the computer, but the computer just kept trying to renew the IP address. I've also tried disabling the firewall on my computer. I even tried to install it on the family computer and it still came up with the same problem as before. I've looked at the Belkin support and Linksys support websites, but they didn't have any answers for me. I even contacted the tech guys at both Belkin and Linksys and they didn't help me at all. I've tried this forum several times, but no one seemed to have my specific problem... so I decided to get an account and post my own problem.

One other thing to note, my brother and dad have laptop computers with built in wireless. They can connect to the network, but I can't.

So anybody got any idea??? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!! And hey, you might even save somebody's sanity today

Thanks!!!
