I've got a new HP nx6325 with BCM4311/BCM2050 WLAN, with Windows 2000 and Broadcom Wireless Utility all running and working. I got a WLAN-Router, to which I can connect fine with other laptops wirelessly or with my laptop with network cable. When I start Broadcom Wireless Utility, my Wireless network shows up, and as the network configuration says LAN2 "Network cable has been removed" I try to connect to the WLAN. No firewalls on my laptop active, no passwords or restrictions on the router, DHCP on both devices enabled, etc.. So everything should just work fine, but the protocol says only:
13:34:41, Tue, Mar 13, 07 Connecting to "mySSID"...
13:34:41, Tue, Mar 13, 07 Using "Open" authentication mode
13:34:41, Tue, Mar 13, 07 Disabling encryption
13:35:05, Tue, Mar 13, 07 Disconnecting from current network
So I tried using a fixed IP within the IP-Range of the router, still the same. I checked the routers log in debug mode, nothing happens there when I try to connect. So it seems that this Broadcom Utility doesn't work properly, but in W2K i can't use anything else, and I don't know how to proceed to find the real error.
still no help? it's really amazing, i can connect to any other network, and any other computer can connect to this router, only this special combination won't work.
something seems odd though, when i look in the extended properties of the available networks, the Router reports to be 00:C0:49:E0:60:F6. But when I have a look at router config, it lists this MAC Adress under "LAN", while Wireless has the MAC Address 00-C0-49-D9-BA-60. Is this the reason?
