Hi, I wonder if anybody could help. I am trying to connect to the web using my flatmate's wireless connection, and even though I can connect to the router itself (I get the IP address OK), no packages are sent or received (cannot connect to the web).
I have tried other unsecure wireless networks and can connect without a problem.
Tried changing the settings of the connection to my flatmate's router, he made the network unsecured, switched off the firewall, but still it does not work.
It almost sounds like the IP is not set correctly. If there is no traffic when you attempt to surf the net then your PC isn't trying to contact the Gateway/Router.
Have you checked that the IP you are getting is correctly configured, this includes the Gateway and DNS settings.
I'm with Fred on this one, if it is not security encryption or mac filtering it HAS to be in the TCP/IP stack. (unless the wireless router is not plugged into, or configured for the WAN connection)
