Default Can't configure D-Link DI-624M

Hi, everyone. I'm totally new to this, so please bear with me.

I got a DWL-G132 USB Adapter and a DI624M router, both from D-
Link, but can't seem to get a Wireless connection going. I installed
both as instructed by the rather crude manuals. I set up the router
through Setup Wizard, also as instructed, via the 192.168.0.1 URL. The adapter is working fine according to Windows XP.

I still get a white D logo with a red line moving up and down instead
of the green one which indicates a wireless connection. If I hover the
mouse over it, I get the message "D-Link airplus Xtreme G DWL g132
Wireless USB Adapter(rev. A) Not Connected!" Searching for connections
through Windows or the D-Link software turns up nothing. Lights on the
router seem to indicate the cables are connected properly.

I can't renew the DCHP because it always gives me a timeout error. Is this where the problem is?

The downloaded the latest drivers for the adapter and the firmware for the router. It seemed fine for a while, but now for whatever reason I can't connect to the 192.168.0.1 URL to fiddle with the routers configuration, so I guess that's a step back for me. Not sure if it has to do with updating the firware, as it seemed to keep working for a while.

I did try resetting the router and the power recylcing thing, without any results either with getting the wireless connection working previously or now to connect to 192.168.0.1.

I know this probably sounds very stupid to most of you, but any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm having this EXACT same problem... I've asked on a couple boards and so far no one has answered... I have these results with DI-624M router connected to a Westell VersaLink 327W modem, but my problem is the modem has a router built in to it, and my computer/xbox 360 try to connect to that. It has a terrible connection so I bought the router... But the router isn't sending a signal and they're still trying to connect to the Westell... in the 192.168.0.1 setup thing under stats it says wireless packets sent: 0. I'm pretty sure I just have to somehow go from the modem to the router sending the signal, but I don't know how...

EDIT: the hardwired computer does get an internet connection so that's not the issue

Default DLink DI-624 Wireless Connection Problems

tmarques - as raylll mentioned in his reply, you'll first want to connect directly to the router to see if you can connect and configure (hopefully, you also updated your firmware using a direct connection to the router, as the instructions warn against trying to do this via a wireless connection). (BTW, you can download the full manual for your router here: Super G with MIMO Wireless Router - DI-624M by D-Link - it's a bit more detailed than the documentation that came with the router.)

When you configured the router, did you disable SSID broadcast and/or enable WPA encryption? If so, you have to manually configure your DWL USB adapter - it won't connect until you've entered the proper SSID and encryption key (although it will appear as though it's trying).

Re. DHCP - you can go to the "Status" page of the router (direct connection) and take a look at the log to see what's happening with DHCP - it should at least give you an indication of whether or not the laptop is trying to connect, a lease is being issued or whatever.

For everyone - obvious reminder - please remember to add/change the admin password...

Well, the router (D-Link) doesn't even show up in the list of available wireless networks, so I wasn't able to disable SSID broadcast (how do I do that?) and/or enable WPA encryption.

ha sorry I'm not trying to hijack your thread <_<

You should probably do all your wireless router changes while wired through ethernet.

Basically uploading the wrong firmware will generally turn the router into nothing more than a fancy paperweight. Often the only way to get it going from there is to open it up and see if it has a JTAG connector on the PCB. If so you can upload firmware using a suitable cable and JTAG software (e.g. JTAG tools for Linux; part of openwince).

Unfortunately the exact method depends on your router model. See OpenWrtDocs/Customizing/Hardware/JTAG Cable - OpenWrt as an example.

Default Same problem with no wireless signal...

My only conclusion...bad unit...the wireless radio is not working/defective. I bought two at the same time and one unit works and the other doesn't meaning I can read the SSID of one and not the other and when (configured both exactly through wired ports) used on the same network at the same location. One unit transmits, the other doesn't.

So doing some Sherlock Holmes deductive reasoning, the unit is broken.
