Default Can't enable card

I have an Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network Adaptor which came with my Toshiba Satellite and Windows XP. I've used it for more than a year on many wireless networks. But now when I go to Device Manager, there is a red X on it. And when I try to enable it, ConfigFree proceeds as if it is about to enable it, but then the setting immediately switches back to "disabled."

I have Windows Firewall enabled and use McAfee Internet Suite. When I restart, I used to have some wireless related icons that I never used pop up on the bottom right, but after removing items from my startup, those icons no longer appear.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Wade

Is turning on the firewall a new thing? Maybe it's the problem.

Or maybe you need to do a System Restore to before you turned off those startup items you didn't think were important, and/or update your adaptor's driver.
