Cantenna (N-type/rp-sma) not working

I made a cantenna using various cans following this website: How to build a tin can waveguide antenna

I connected an N-type connecter then a rp-sma connector directly to the USB card directly to my computer (no wire anywhere, but I could use a USB one).

I have detected NO changes in signals using a few programs. I do not understand why this is.

My thoughts are either they did not send me an RP connector (or I do not need one?). Other than that, I do not know why it would not be working at all.

On a side question: Can I bypass the N-type connector and just use an sma? What kind would I need since I will also need to solder a wire on it?
