I have a wireless point to point link using two WRT54G AP's in WDS mode using Sveasoft Satori firmware.
They're in B mode.
Total distance is 710m, with clear line of sight.
Antennas are currently 24dbi parabolics, although we have tried 19dbi parabolics and 9dbi panels too.
Location is between Newton Road, and Karangahape road in Auckland city... this means that the Newton Rd AP is also pointing pretty much directly at the Skytower.
The Newton Road AP can see approx 27 wireless networks (tested using Kismet), however indicates several channels with nobody on it.
This link gives a fairly consistent 5% packet loss at all times, often with bursts of around 30sec-5mins of 90% packet loss. Usually changing channels to the other end of the band will restore connectivity in case of the 90% loss situation, but it all inevitable happens again.
We've tried pointing the dishes at the ground, but this still happens.
Question: Anyone have any suggestions for anything else to try, or is this just a case of 802.11b being so overpopulated in this area that its now unusable?
