configuring a ZyXEL Wireless Ethernet Adaptor

I just bought the ZyXEL G-470 Wireless Ethernet Adaptor. It sees all the networks in the neighborhood(!) but I am tring to connect to a customers network. They know NOTHING about the router or ISP and I can't really ask them without taking them away from 1M things they are doing. I just have to figure it out.

I can get to the setup page for the Wireless Ethernet Adaptor and select his network (it is not encrypted) and the hardware connects fine.

The setup instructions tell me to go to the TCP/IP properties window and enter
IP address: 192.168.1.12

The Subnet mask defaults to 255.255.255.0

But I do not know what to enter for the "Default Gateway" or "Preferred DNS server".

I dont have an ISP so I dont have one (could I enter that anyway?) his is unknown. How do I make this work?

If the cutomers network is set up with a DHCP server, then you leave your IP and DNS settings as automatic and let DHCP take care of things for you. If they don't have DHCP for whatever reason, you will need to set the default gateway and DNS server IP to that of their internet router. If they are using a 192.168.1.0/24 address space as you suggested, it is quite likely that this will be 192.168.1.1.
