Wink Connected but not allowed on internet

I feel like a jerk because i have never been to this forum before, but because i have a problem here i am. I have a laptop that i use all the time and i take it to school and i can always connect to the internet i usually have very good connection. Most of the time i can connect to the internet no problem, but recently like the last 2 weeks occasionally for a couple of hours it will say that i still have connection but when i go open internet explorer it says this page can not be displayed. So i thought well maybe the system is down, but there are people around me using there computers and they are having no issues at all.
So i tested my computer out i leave my school and go to a different school a couple miles aways and it connects no problem, i have never had a problem connecting at the other university.
This problem has only occured since i downloaded the new version of internet explorer i dont know if this is just a coincidence of what. I also try netscape and it doesnt work either. I am really having issues.
Again I feel like a tool and that I am a user ,but i would really apreciate the help. Thanks a lot.

Ryan

Hey, I feel for ya. I tried to get IE 7 to work by following the troubleshooting in Microsoft's tech support, but just ended up crapping my winsock. My upgrade to IE 7 cost me $40 in technical support from the computer manufacturer just to regain any internet connection at all... and IE still doesn't work! Thank God for Firefox.

I'll save you the $40 call and tell you that you might have to do a System Restore to the most recent backup before the IE 7 installation.

UPDATE:
I changed my firewall from McAffee to Norton and was finally able to clear the path for IE7. IE7 finally works. If you're running a firewall, you may find it's blocking each browser, or even discover that it's blocking all HTTP connections.
