Sorry mate, I try my best to reply to queries whether the poster is new or not. The truth is I only have limited spare time, and sometimes some posts manage to slip through unnoticed when I am not around my computer for a week. The same applies to many other regular users of the forum. Please try not to take it personally.
Back to the issue, MSN does behave oddly on flaky wireless connections, the only way to relaibly fix it is to improve the wireless connection itself. If you use Windows XP, any third party wireless utilities that are installed can conflict with Windows own built-in wireless service. This gives very similar symptoms to those you described above.
If you have a third party utility (such as the one D-Link often supplies with its cards) I'd recommend removing it and letting Windows do the work instead as this usually works best. Alternatively, stop and disable the Wireless Zero Configuration service in Windows and leave the utility installed if you find you prefer it.
If either of these do not help, it may be an idea to purchase a small external antenna with higher gain than the stock one (5-7dBi usually helps). These can be found for a reasonably low cost at most electronics stores.
