Default Dell 1390 Wireless LAN card

Some annoying issues, does not connect the first time on startup at different than previous wifi source-- Also, on a recent trip overseas, it could not find the wifi for the hotel.

There is a 5 year old driver in the laptop for the card. Is there any reason to update the driver? The Dell page lists a driver that is "optional" and it is a big download, 110 MB. Any really good reason to update the driver? Think it will help with these issues? Any risks in installing the new driver?

The wifi does work most of the time, just little annoying issues.
