Please help. DHCP doesn't give right IP address on my new Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-300N USB Dish Adapter that I bought to my MacBook. MacBook's airport is working correctly using DHCP. Range of IP addresses of the router is about 192.168.1.111-192.168.1.136 (I don't know the exact range, just what I see in Airport's preferences). USB Adapter switched on DHCP shows this IP address: 169.254.85.40, so definitely out of the range of that router. I am detecting 3 wireless networks. Adapter is connected to the right one. MacBook has OS X 10.4.9 version. Please I really appreciate any help. I've spent a lot of time trying to find out something but no results. And I'm sorry for my English I am from Europe just working in NY in summer camp. And I don't know a lot about this problem, just user.
Thank you very much.

Well i think that the "169.254.85.40" ip adress is your external ip adress, and the 192.168.1.111-192.168.1.136 is the internal ip adress that you should get. Internal is for the local network and the external is what you connect to the internet with and browse. Chances are that if you are connected to the right Acces Point, you are given the ip address within that range set on the Acces Point. Im not sure how to check the internal ip address on macs because im a windows user :P. Pretty sure you could get the command for command prompt to show your ip with a simple google search. Please correct me if im wrong.
