Default DNS Wireless linksys issues Please help!

Hello,
I posted here awhile back about a ps3 wireless networking fix. I figured it out! Thanks to all those who tried to help. However, I have run into some major issues. Here is my set up.
I use a linksys wrt54gs with waverunner parabolic boosters, I know this will not interfere with the system but they are on the antennas nonetheless. Internet source is comcast. The linksys is set up with default settings. I am running a linksys wrt54g with dd-wrt lite on it. It is set up as a repeater not a bridged repeater Universal Wireless Repeater - DD-WRT Wiki using these instructions.
Problem-
I am constantly losing signal from the repeater AND the main router. By losing signal I mean the connection drops and then comes back online within minutes or hours. I am getting a dns error on my ps3.
To elaborate a bit on the problem trying to be as detailed as possible-
Connection from the main router is great when nothing is using the internet on the repeater. After ~15 minutes of using the internet on the repeater the connection drops on the main router and the network becomes unresponsive for awhile. unplugging the modem and routers does not fix the issue. However, If I unplug everything overnight the issue is resolved for about an hour or so then the network becomes unstable again. I dont know if some settings on each router need to be tweaked. Or the main router is going bad or both routers are going bad. I mean the wrt54g series is getting pretty old and these things dont last forever.
I will be checking frequently to post any needed diagnostics or poss. solutions or more details.
Thanks,
d

step one: determine whether the RADIO or the NETWORK is dropping out. do this by reading the signal strength when it's working, and when it fails. bottom of the info page that comes up before you log in

Signal shows 60-90% at all times. It was working a minute ago. And just now quit. Signal is showing good. I can access other computers on the repeater and on the main router.

so the network is changing. if you are using DHCP try setting static values. if you are already using static values, try multiple DNS servers

Is there a tutorial on this? I have tried to set static values in the past and have only been able to access private networks.

the gateway is the route from your network to the internet

the DNS server is a phone book that tranlates URLs into IP addresses

explained within the limits of my abilities here:

Now that makes sense. So can I assign any value to the ip addresses? What about the dns servers? Are those specific? Are my dns addresses the ones listed on the status page of the linksys router?

Ok.. New developments.. I tried using my laptop to share internet over ethernet. My laptop has internet and everything is working perfectly! I plug in my ethernet to share to my pc and the internet instantly dies. The signal stays strong something just mucks everything up. Thanks for all your help so far.
