Default Doesn't Recognize Network Card

I have an old 98SE and I am trying to install a new Netgear wireless card in the machine. I followed the instructions and installed the software first, then installed the card.

However, the machine doesn't recognize that the card is even there!

I'm not much of a geek and this is the first time I've ever attempted this.

Can anyone give me any suggestions what I should try?

Thanks! )
