Default Doing my head in....

Hello

Desperately need help.

Having a problem with my wireless connection on orange broadband.

OS is XP sp2 and router is a Belkin G plus mimo model f5d9630-4.

I can connect via my usb modem over my broadband without any problems and can surf ok.

However, when I try it over the wireless connection I can get to Google and can search but can't get to any sites. It just say "Waiting for www.yahoo.com".

I've tried IE, Firefox, Netscape and Opera but m having the same problem.

Funily enough its only browsing that causes me an issue over the wireless. Applications are able to access and run over the internet via the wireless connection.

IPV6 isn't installed on the OS.

Doing my nut! Can anyone please please help?!

Have you checked the firewall settings for your wireless connection. XP is prone to doing some odd things when it comes to its firewall. Also have you got any third party protection software (norton/counterspy etc) as these apps are know to block traffic if not setup properly.

Regards

Fred

Sounds to me like your machine cashed the DNS (Domain Name Service) info for google when you where hooked up to the USB. then on wireless there was no dns info, except for the google info that was cashed. Your client is probably not getting a dns server info via DHCP, check it the wireless router, make sure it is getting the DNS info from the ISP. Otherwise you will have to put in your DNS severs manually. DNS (or the BIND) protocol works on port 53 and most firewalls know without port 53 there is no DNS service.
