The short answer is no, most wireless routers are delibarately designed so that they cannot function as a wireless client.

Most likely this reason is because they usually have a built-in switch, but only one computer can be connected when running in client mode according to 802.11 specs.

Default Senao AP

I have Senao AP 200mW 802.11b that will go in client mode with just about any AP, the only thing is that it only supports WEP 64/128. The high power makes the connection rock solid.
