Default Dropped Signal With a Twist

Hi Folks. Have an issue I need some help with. Actually there are a few issues one of which is I am a noob.

So I have been having odd sporadic internet connection issues. When I first start my computer I can always connect to the network and internet fine. After as short as a few minutes though I will get bumped. I can still see the network and the signal is strong, but I cant connect. Occasionally when I right click and hit repair it will work again for awhile. Sometimes not.

The twist is that occasionally when I cant connect to a web page I can still send and receive data through other programs, like file sharing, just fine.

I recently moved and had the issue at my previous location as well (to a lesser degree) so I assume it is an issue with my hardware not the network.

More Info: Have a desktop with a wireless card. Am currently using my roomies Netgear wireless usb adapter. I installed a D-link wireless card awhile back. I could not get it to work when I moved to the new place. It also does not show up on the hardware list.

When I look at "Network Connections" It says Via Rhine Fast Ethernet Adapter not connected. Cable unplugged.

Any insight would be appreciated. Let me know if I need to supply other specific details. Thanks

If you live in an apartment complex with a lot wireless networks. Your gonna want to get a wireless card with a nice antenna. USB wireless adapters act weird when there's a lot of interference.

As for your PCI card not showing up. Go to the device manager, the drivers probably need to be reinstalled for it.
