I'm sorry if his is been asked before, I did search for all topics DWL-G710 and couldn't find anything pertaining to exactly my question, so starting a new thread.
I currently live in an area where my only option for internet is a Free Public Access point that uses a web based login redirect system. Meaning you type in google.com and it redirects you to their site first to login under a "Start Free Browsing" section. This mean no WEP WPA ect passwords for example. The problem is the buildings we live in shield us from the signal and do not allow you to access the internet in doors. I recently aquired a DWL-G710 at a bazaar and have been using it to rebroadcast the signal for me and my roomate inside our room and it worked well for a few days. Now the speed has ground to a halt and everyone in the building is saying that they can now connect indoors but it's slow at times. I assume it's because of my recently installed repeater and the speed of the network seems to verify that. (The walls between rooms, unlike the outside walls, are paper thin). I was wondering if there's anyway to specify a login or user list at the repeater itself and still have the repeater linked to the specifc SSID per usual with no login seeing as how there's no security at that point. All I see in the way of logins have to do with the Access Points login itself and I cannot figure out a way to limit only me and my roomate as users for the repeater. (In a nutshell I want only myself and my roomate to be able to access the signal coming off the repeater). I would appreciate it if you could tell me I'm just wasting my time or if there's something to be done.
